Real Voices. Real Impact. — A Food Allergy & Asthma Awareness Scholarship Through Storytelling

Real Voices Real Impact Allergy Stories
Sharing Real-Life Allergy Experiences

As a food allergy mom, I’ve always believed that some of the most helpful things we learn come from one another — real people sharing what life actually looks like with allergies or asthma.

Real Voices. Real Impact. is a small honorarium program I created to encourage people to share their experiences so we can raise awareness, support one another, and help others understand what this life is really like.

This isn’t a traditional scholarship. It’s simply a way to say thank you for taking the time to share something meaningful with the allergy community (and beyond). Selected stories receive a $100 honorarium, with optional bonuses if you choose to include a photo or video.

Who Can Share a Story

We welcome stories from:

  • Kids, teens, and adults living with food allergies or asthma

  • Siblings, parents, grandparents, friends, or caregivers

  • Anyone who has walked alongside someone with allergies

If you’ve lived it or supported someone through it, you’re welcome here.

What Kind of Stories We’re Looking For

You don’t need to be a polished writer.
You don’t need perfect grammar.
You don’t need a dramatic story.

We just want real and honest experiences, such as:

  • What daily life with food allergies is like

  • School, travel, sports, dating, or friendship challenges

  • How allergies affect your routine or mental health

  • A moment that shaped you

  • Learning to self-advocate

  • Support systems that helped

  • A message you want others to understand

Stories can be written as a letter, essay, poem, or something creative — whatever feels right to you.

One note: Please submit your own original writing.
AI-generated entries aren’t accepted. Your personal voice matters more than perfect writing.

Honorarium Details

Selected submissions may receive:

  • $100 for your written story

  • + $50 bonus for a short (2–3 minute) video

  • + $50 bonus for a photo of you (any age) carrying or wearing your epinephrine

Photos may or may not be used, but they help normalize visibility, especially for kids and teens.

This is a mom-run project, so please allow a little grace on timing. Thank you for understanding.

How to Submit Your Story

  1. Write your story in Google Docs.

  2. Change the sharing settings to “anyone with the link can view.”

  3. Email the link to info@allergyapparel.com

  4. Please use this subject line:
Real Voices Submission – Your Name
(Example: Real Voices Submission – Logan R.)

Please include in your email:

  • Your name

  • Age/grade or your role (student, parent, sibling, etc.)

  • School or affiliation (if applicable)

  • How you currently carry your epinephrine
(This does NOT affect your eligibility — it just helps us understand real-life needs.)

  • Attach a photo or video if you’d like to include one

There is no deadline — stories are reviewed as they come in.

Optional Questions (Not Required)

If you’d like to help us learn more about real needs within the community, you’re welcome to include:

  • How you currently carry your epinephrine

  • Your top 2–3 priorities when choosing a medication pouch

This is completely optional but very helpful.
